A nasal prosthesis can restore anatomy after a partial or complete removal of the nose. This type of prosthesis is custom sculpted and painted to match the patient's remaining anatomy and is often created using photographs of the patient prior to surgery. Whenever possible, a pre-surgical impression can be taken and used later to create the prosthesis.

A nasal prosthesis is medically necessary in order to protect the delicate mucus membranes which are exposed in the absence of the nasal structure. This type of prosthesis is vitally important to help support eye glasses.
